Snorkeling at Grande Island

Snorkel and swim to explore exotic marine life and the colorful world of corals. Dive into clear waters with a day trip to the Grande Island. Leisurely spend a day swimming, snorkeling, fishing, relaxing and sunbathing on the white sandy beach. Pack your swimming gear, your shades and unwind for the day. In the quaint village on the coast of North Goa, Anjuna still has a whiff of the hippy trail. As a haven for the ‘flower children of sixties’, the popular flea market here began as a source of income for foreigners to barter their belongings to extend their stay. Today this infamous Anjuna Flea Market is held every Wednesday, and hundreds of vendors from Rajasthan, Gujarat, nomadic Lambani tribes and foreigners sell products ranging from artifacts, garments, and trinkets to traditionally dyed fabrics. The best action plan after the Flea Market is to drive to the pristine beach in Morjim, located to the north of the Chapora River. If you visit Morjim at the right time, you can experience the famous nesting site of Olive Ridley Turtles.

A Trip around Margao

The city of Margao is the headquarters of the South Goa district and capital of Salcette Taluka. The church square and the historically significant “Largo de Igreja” used to be Margao’s colonial quarters. Gorgeous old buildings surround three sides of the city square. The Church of the Holy Spirit makes up the other side and is one of the grandest churches in Goa. This church was built way back in 1564 in the Indian Baroque style. After this, your next stop will be the open air museum called ‘Ancestral Goa’ located in Loutolim. This museum is a recreation of a miniature village which shows the life of rural Goa. This miniature village is eco-friendly and depicts a century of Goan heritage and lifestyle with depictions of daily village life and activities. ‘Big Foot’ is the biggest attraction. It is a footprint which was discovered while excavating the site. Next up and the last stop on the trip is a visit to extravagant and palatial Menezes Braganza house located in Chandor, 13 kilometers from Margao. The Braganza mansion was the home of Luis De Menezes Braganza, a veteran of the Goa freedom moment and it was built in the 17th century. You can see elaborate antique furniture and curios which has been collected over generations of the household. It also has a large collection of books.

Arpora, situated in North Goa is a shoppers’ paradise and holds Saturday Night Markets. Spice Farm

Discover health, wealth and wonders of nature at the Sahakari Spice Farm in Ponda! Situated amidst lush green surroundings at Curti, the spice farm offers a guided tour of the plantation and an authentic Goan lunch served in earthen pots and banana leaf. Occupying an enormous area of 130 acres, 60 acres of this area is exclusively devoted to the cultivation of spices, fruits, medicinal trees and herbs. Besides the guided tour in the spice plantation, the farm offers other modes of entertainment, like Traditional Dances such as Fugdi, Jagor and Dhalo; elephant washing and riding; and demonstrations on how to climb tall Betel-nut palms and the art of swinging from one palm to another. Dudhsagar Waterfalls

Perched in the high peaks of the Western Ghats, this exuberant and spectacular waterfall, measures a mighty 600m from head to foot. Dudhsagar is set amidst breathtaking scenery overlooking the steep, crescent-shaped head of a valley carpeted with pristine tropical forest. Located in the Sanguem taluka, the waterfall appears like streams of milk rushing down the mountainside. At the falls, there are also a couple of pools that you can swim in, making it a great place for a day full of fun and frolic.
